As a Vietnam veteran who served over two tours and returned to America with an opium habit and a chip on my shoulder, I lived a very crazy life of drugs, bikers and wandering. Two years after returning home I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and payment for my sins. I attended Lancaster Bible College and in 1978, with my bride and new son, I launched into a church planting ministry which began in rural Maine. After planting three churches, I became Police Liaison for Operation Rescue, a pro-life organization that protested abortion by peacefully blockading abortion clinics. As a Christian activist, I endured multiple arrests and did some time in jail as a result. During this time I testified before local and federal courts in defense of the unborn.
In 1990 I ran against the Majority Leader of the New York State Assembly on the Right to Life, Conservative and Republican lines.
I was General Director of Grace Mission to Haiti for over 10 years and took multiple teams to Haiti every year.
I taught Critical Thinking and Research at Palm Beach Atlantic University and have spoken on TV, radio and as a guest on secular college campus'. All this to say, I have had a very diverse journey on the front lines of reaching America.
We are now witnessing very challenging times. How will we respond to Post-Christian America? I am currently a Christian author and speaker with a desire to encourage and equip Christians for the current cultural challenges.
The two most popular strategies that Christians have advocated over the years have been "Take back the culture" and "Ignore and avoid the culture." I am not a fan of either approach.
I advocate that we are to be a present light in the culture and an advocate of Truth. We indeed are counter cultural. We are pilgrims and sojourners. We are here for a purpose. We are told that while we are going into the world we should be sharing the Gospel and making disciples.
We currently have a form of competitive "churchianity" in America rather than a vibrant Christianity. We have drawn back from the marketplace and the cultural battles. Instead of being a salt shaker to our culture, we have become salt licks vying for customers. For those of you who weren't raised in farm country, a salt lick is a block of salt placed in a field that the cows can come and lick to get salt.
I believe God has called us to be salt shakers that season the people and culture around us. This means we must compassionately confront lies with Truth. We must become Christian activists like the men and women we read about in the Bible. This means that our hope in God must shine so bright that people ask the Source of our hope. We are called to be light in the darkness, to season the culture with the salt of Truth and to rescue the perishing, not condemn the lost.
This world is not our home, it's our mission.
Because of my diverse journey with the Lord, I have learned a lot about walking in intimidating places, responding to threats, finding yourself in unexpected situations and seeing God's faithfulness and power manifested in exciting ways.
What I present is not theoretical theology but practical Christianity from the trenches of the front lines. We are entering a time that we have not witnessed before in America. We do not have to confront the world. They are about to confront us in very aggressive ways. We are bombarded with godless ideologies. Share your Christian faith and values, and you will be labeled a hater and an extremist.
I offer 5-night conferences called the Truth Campaign which offer an understanding of where we are and how we must respond. I also offer 1-day workshops that include two morning workshops, lunch and two afternoon workshops that are similar to the Truth Campaign. This allows for a multi-church event and can strengthen the Christian witness in a whole community rather than just a single church. It presents an opportunity for more discussion and interaction. As a Christian author, I have written two books that present this message for you to get a better understanding of what I am sharing.
I am also available for interviews, school or college presentations and church or event speaking. God has trained and prepared me for such a time as this. It would be my horor to encourage and equip you.
Remember, the Light shines brightest
in the dark.
Compassionate Confrontation is NOW released in its revised version. This is a practical look at how Christians should respond to Post-Christian America.
Full of frontline battle stories and Biblical challenges, this book is a must-read for any Christian that recognizes that America is changing, and is increasingly at odds with Christianity and Biblical Truth.
The blogs are generated from portions of my two books, commentary on current events or insights I've learned in the trenches.
